PV boost converter conditioning using neural network

    Get PDF
This master report presents a voltage control system for DC-DC boost converter integrated with Photovoltaic (PV) array using optimized feed-forward neural network controller. A specific output voltage of a boost converter is regulated at a constant value under input voltage variations caused by a sudden changes in irradiation for a purpose of supplying a stabilize dc voltage to Base Transceiver Station (BTS) telecommunication equipment that required a 48V dc input supply to be operated. For a given solar irradiance, the tracking algorithm changes the duty ratio of the converter such that the output voltage produced equals to 48V. This is done by the feed-forward loop, which generates an error signal by comparing converter output voltage and reference voltage. Depending on the error and change of error signals, the neural network controller generates a control signal for the pulse widthmodulation generator which in turn adjusts the duty ratio of the converter. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by developing a simulation model in MATLAB-Simulink program. Tracking performance of the proposed controller is also compared with the conventional proportional-integral-differential (PID) controller. The simulation results show that the proposed neural network controller (NNC) produce an improvement of control performance compared to the PID controller

FISH SKIN FRESHNESS LEVEL BY INTEGRATED RGB MULTICOLOUR IMAGE PROCESSING FROM QUALITY INDEX METHOD (QIM) ASSESSMENT

The colour of the fish skin is one of the important factors to determine the freshness of a fish. There is potential to use the fish images as an alternative to determine the fish freshness. However, the freshness relationship of the fish skin image to the Red, Green, Blue (RGB) multiple colour channel needs to be elucidated to achieve an accurate interpretation of fish freshness. The objective of this study is to determine the freshness of the fish samples using QIM assessment and to extract the RGB colour value from fish skin images. Finally, to establish the relationship between the QIM scores ranging from 1 (fresh) to 3 (spoiled) and RGB value for freshness indicator using fish images. The effects of temperature, environment, and storage method have been shown to play an important role in determining the rate of deterioration towards the quality and freshness level in fish. From this study, a freshness indicator based on Quality Index Method (QIM) and RGB value for Queenfish and Threadfin was created. Based on the QIM score, Threadfin was easier to deteriorate as compared to Queenfish from its leaner body type properties. Different fish would reflect different freshness reading as Threadfin is in a fresh state when it possesses QIM score of 1 with RGB values range between of 143 to 172. As deterioration progresses, the QIM score is at 3 and the RGB values are ranging from 132 to 161. While Queenfish is found to be in a fresh state when it acquires QIM score of 1 and the RGB values are in the range of 148 to 170. It starts to spoil when the QIM score is at 3 and the RGB values are ranging from 154 to 184

Development of Auxiliary Equipment for one seater drag buggy is one of the Mechanical Faculty project and this task of the project must be completed by Mechanical Engineering student. Project Objective is to design brake pedal, fuel pedal, piping and tank attachment and to fabricate the mechanical part of the system. This project must be complete to ensure the whole system of the drag buggy car can be applied. Several aspects must be consider when make analysis such as strength analysis, dimension analysis selection concept analysis. All the system must be done without collide or bother any system to avoid another system failure when applying. So, efficiency is important criteria to make this system go well. Then, fabrication and modification process should be making properly. If any problem occurs, it will become dangerous for the driver. Another thing that should have to develop this project is knowledge, skills and interest feeling. Without that, this project can’t be going far. So, all the process must be follow on the flow and all system should be making correctly and properly for the perfection

In this paper, the synthesis of LaFeO3 based on the gel combustion method has been improved by using citric acid (CA) as a secondary chelating agent on glucose. The synthesized samples were calcined at 600 °C and further characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared, field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrophotometry, N2 adsorption-desorption analyses, thermogravimetric analysis, and UV-vis-near-IR spectroscopy. The XRD data revealed that the pure orthorhombic perovskite phase LaFeO3 was obtained when CA was added on glucose. From FESEM and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis, LaFeO3 synthesized using the addition of CA on glucose potentially showed well-uniform spherical particles and a high specific surface area of 40.77 m2/g with a particle size of 70 nm compared to glucose, which only showed 15.68 m2/g with a particle size of 100-300 nm. The photocatalytic activity of LaFeO3 was evaluated by the degradation of diazo dyes, Reactive Black 5 (RB5) under visible-light irradiation, indicating that synthesized LaFeO3 using the addition of CA on glucose exhibited excellent adsorption efficiency and remarkable photocatalytic activity with reaction rate constant K = 0.0680 min-1, which was higher than that of the synthesized LaFeO3 based on glucose only with reaction rate constant K = 0.0087 min-1
